BBC Breakfast fans celebrated the ‘fabulous’ unveiling of the name of a young raven at the Tower of London.
Viewers enjoyed the ‘pomp’ which included an orchestra of trumpet players who played ahead of the hotly anticipated announcement.
BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood popped down to the infamous royal tower on the rainy London morning to announce the ravenna’s - a female raven - name.
The British public had been invited to vote for the name of the raven chick at the Tower of London with five names on the shortlist- Branwen, Matilda, Winifred, Florence and Bronte.
Carol chatted with one of the Tower’s Ravenmasters, Chris Skaife, who explained the ravenna was welcomed into the world in May alongside her brother Edgar Allan Poe, who was named after the famous poet.
They were born to the Tower’s resident breeding couple, Huginn and Muninn.
Cameras cut to the trumpeters who played a short fanfare before Carol handed the envelope to Chris, who opened it to reveal the public had voted for Branwen.
The name Branwen refers to the deity from Celtic mythology, whose name translates as ‘blessed raven'.
A clearly very chuffed Chris said the name was “absolutely brilliant” and thanked the British public for their choice.
“This is absolutely brilliant, Branwen was the Queen of Ravens, the Queen of White Ravens, the Queen of beauty and love,” the popular Ravenmaster gushed.
“She’s all that and more.”
Weather presenter Carol, could not believe how relaxed the baby ravens were as they casually hung out in their cages.
“This is a moment in history,” she exclaimed.
“These ravens are so chilled out… they’re fine with the ravens and the trumpet players.”
BBC Breakfast viewers could also not contain their excitement at the adorable history-making moment and took to Twitter to celebrate.
“I love that there were trumpets played to announce the name of the new raven, Branwen, at the Tower of London. We really are brilliantly ridiculous,” wrote one Twitter user.
And another added: “Hello Branwen #BBCBreakfast. Nothing like a bit of #British pomp. Love it... #toweroflondon."
The new arrivals take the number of resident ravens to nine alongside, Jubilee, Harris, Gripp, Rocky, Erin, Poppy and Georgie.
The famous ravens are known as the guardians of the Tower and legend says the British kingdom and the Tower of London will fall if the six resident ravens leave the fortress.
Given there are currently nine ravens in residence, means there are plenty spare and the kingdom is safe.
