Weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood had to take time away from her TV job last year.
The 59-year-old was left in excruciating pain following a horrific accident on her bike that left one of her knees "absolutely battered" with the "nerves hanging out of it."
Carol was hit by a car whilst out on a cycle session and says she "won't ever forget" the scary incident that she still has nightmares about.
And during an interview on Louise Minchin and Annie Emmerson's Her Spirit podcast, the meteorologist reflected on the pain caused by falling off her bike after the collision, before admitting that she struggles to "talk about it."
Sharing how she is hopeful to one day returning to cycling, she told: "I hope one day to get back on my bike…"

Louise responded: "You had a really horrid accident, and if you hadn't of had your helmet on, then things could have ended differently."
Trying to make light of the circumstances, Carol replied: "If I hadn't of had my helmet on, I would have face planted!
"I have a huge nose as you can see, so my nose hit the deck and had a lovely black bruise on it, but my helmet had a peak at the front and that's what stopped my face from hitting the ground."
Detailing her injuries, she went on: "I won't ever forget that accident, it was horrific.
"My knee was absolutely battered and there were nerves hanging out of it! It was down to my kneecap!
"Fortunately my kneecap was okay and I had bruises all over my body but you get over that kind of thing."
Explaining how she is still haunted by the accident, she said: "Sometimes I'll dream about it and still hear that [noise] of the car hitting the back of my bike…

"Oh my goodness, I can't really talk about it."
In May, Carol updated her social media fans that she was taken to hospital after being knocked off her bike after fans noticed she was missing from the BBC morning show.
She thanked police, ambulance and hospital staff who came to her aid after the accident.
Carol tweeted: "Been off following an accident.
"Got knocked off my bike by a car and got injured. Biggest thanks ever to the Police (Chris and Faye), the Ambulance Crew (Miranda and Stewart) who tended to me and took me to Hospital. And especially Peter Foskett-Tharby at Wexham Park Hospital".
When Carol returned to the BBC Breakfast, days after, host Louise Minchin said she was pleased to see her colleague back.

"Carol tell us a bit about what happened," she urged.
"Thank you for starters. And thank you to everybody as well for your concern," began Carol.
"I was out on my bike and got knocked off it by a car that drove into me. A pure accident of course," she added.
"But I got injured. And this is a great opportunity to say thank you to three cyclists that helped me immediately after the incident and also the police. Thames Valley police - that was Chris and also Faye - and the ambulance who tended to me and then took me to hospital - and that was Miranda and Stewart."
Carol - who has worked on the BBC since 1998 - then praised a 'genius' doctor Peter Foskett-Tharby Wexham Park Hospital: "I can't thank you enough," she said.
