BBC Breakfast's Steph McGovern opens up about 'rough start' to pregnancy

BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern has spoken about her "rough start" to pregnancy, which has included severe morning sickness.

The 37-year-old, who is expecting her first child with her girlfriend , said that she had almost threw up on co-host Charlie Stayt.

Speaking about her pregnancy live on the BBC programme today, she said that she would be coming to all of her co-stars for advice now.

Co-star Sally Nugent quipped that she was "knitting already" for the baby.

"I’ve now got an excuse for having a belly," Steph joked. "Thank you to everyone that’s messaged me it was quite overwhelming yesterday.

"I’m actually growing a human."

Steph confirmed reports she was due in November and presenter Jon Kay, who had joined her on the sofa, asked how she was doing.

"I’m all good thank you. Bit of a rough start. But I’m alright now," she replied.

Jon quipped that she would need to prepare herself for the "broken nights and lack of sleep".

"Well that’s what we do anyway," she quipped back.

This comes after Steph confirmed the happy news at the weekend by joking about the time she denied she was pregnant by saying she had a pot belly.

Steph tweeted: "I see my news is out! Yep, I am no longer with pot belly……I am now with child. #babyonboard."
