BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty pokes fun at co-host for messing up script

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty couldn’t resist poking fun at her co-star after he messed up his script this morning.

The 49-year-old broadcaster isn’t afraid to speak her mind and often makes sassy comments live on air.

Saturday’s show was no different when Naga’s co-host Charlie Stayt got in a spin when he tried to present a segment about the upcoming Eurovision contest.

This year’s Eurovision will be held in Liverpool from May 9, with the final taking place on Saturday May 13.

It comes after UK entry Sam Ryder came second in the 2022 contest for his hit song Space Man.

Ukraine won, but due to the ongoing war against Russia in the country the UK agreed to host it instead.

Charlie revealed BBC Breakfast would be hosting a live show from Liverpool during the Eurovision song contest.

But as the 60-year-old told viewers the information, co-host Naga couldn’t contain her giggles as he kept getting the days wrong.

His mishap came after Charlie shared producers were telling him different information in his ear piece as he spoke – so it wasn’t actually his fault.

In a cheeky quip at her co-host, Naga replied: “The good news is the voices in his head are the same that come out of his mouth!”

It was Naga’s first time back in the studio after taking a week off work leaving Charlie holding the reigns with Sally Nugent and Jon Kay.

No reason was given for the TV star’s absence on the red sofa and she hasn’t commented about it.

While viewers were pleased to see Naga return to BBC Breakfast this morning, it was revealed fellow presenter John Watson had been rushed to hospital.

The sports correspondent took to Instagram to share a photo of himself in a hospital bed after sharing he had suffered a knee injury.

The TV star tore his meniscus, damaging the cartilage between the bones in his knee.

The injury tends to occur when the knee twists while a person is playing sport, and results in swelling, stiffness and pain.

John captioned the snap: "Less of a dash more of a hop to the studio come Monday."

Messages of support came pouring in shortly after, with colleague Jon Kay sharing a funny get well soon message.

He wrote: "Take care, John. I’ve got a glittery sock for the other foot if you need it."

While a fan said: "Eek good luck John, wishing you a speedy recovery. Also - you’ve got such dainty ankles."
