BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker says sad goodbye to co-host Louise Minchin as she quits show

Dan Walker bid an emotional farewell to his BBC Breakfast colleague Louise Minchin on Wednesday morning as she quit after 20 years, telling her the show will 'never be the same again.'

Louise announced in June that she'd be be waving goodbye to the morning programme, saying that while she was sad to be going she was looking forward to not having to set her alarm for 3.40am every day.

In the final minutes of her final show, Louise had messages from the likes of Michael Ball, Rick Astley and former colleague Bill Turnbull, while friend Robert Rinder and Louise's husband and dad joined her and Dan in person.

And, before Louise, who is being linked to I'm A Celebrity, said her own goodbyes, Dan paid tribute to her in an emotional speech.

Days before he makes his Strictly debut, Dan told Louise: "It's been wonderful to get to know you.

"We've covered the biggest stories together, we've spoken to some amazing guests. I'll miss you eye roll, I'll miss your 'golf face' when I talk about the sport that I love."

Dan continued: "I'll miss the laughter, I'll miss the tears, I'll miss the fun. But most of all, genuinely, I will miss you every single day.

"I get asked all the time at the minute 'what are you going to do without Louise?'"

After Louise replied "You'll be fine," Dan added: "I don't know what I'll do without you.

"What I do know Louise is that whatever you do next you'll be brilliant, because that's just what you do.

"I think, there are two types of family - ones that you're born with and ones that you find along the way and it's been an enormous privilege to share this sofa and all of us here will miss you enormously and the programme will never ever be the same again."
