BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker's mistake on live TV sparks chaos with viewers

Dan Walker has been forced to apologise to BBC Breakfast viewers after he mistakenly attempted to wrap up the show 45 minutes early.

TV star Dan, 43, who was co-hosting beside Louise Minchin, 52, appeared to forget what time the show finished as he started signing off at 8:30am instead of at 9:15am.

"That's it, for," Dan said, before realising what time it was.

Louise quickly corrected him as she said: "That’s not it.

"That’s not it, there’s another 45 minutes Mr Walker."

The pair burst into a fit of giggles before Dan told viewers: "That’s it between now and half eight for us. We’ll be back in about three minutes.

“Right now, it’s time for the weather, news and travel where you are.”

The presenter went on to look at his watch to check the time as Louise showed her watch for a comparison.

Dan joked: “I’m off home! See you in a bit!”

The father-of-three later took to Twitter to apologise for disrupting viewers' mornings, as he wrote: "I went a bit early" alongside a crying laughing face emoji.

"Very sorry about that. It seems I have confused a few people out there by losing 45 minutes on #BBCBreakfast," he posted in another tweet. "Apologies all round."

The mistake caused minor chaos as fans admitted he'd panicked them into thinking they were "late for work."

One said: "'That's it' bloomin' 'eck @mrdanwalker I nearly spat mi brew out, thinking I'm late for work! phew!"

Another wrote: "You just need @mrdanwalker to make you smile in the morning, 'that’s it bye'".

A third said: "Still feeling out of time. Makes me realise how much I rely on you guys on a morning.”

Another commented: "I thought my train had gone through a wormhole."

And a fifth cheeky fan referenced Dan’s Good Morning Britain rival: "Piers Morgan never does that."
