BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin disappears mid-broadcast sparking concern

Viewers were left confused and concerned after BBC Breakfast presenter Louise Minchin disappeared mid-broadcast.

Ms Minchin was replaced by Sally Nugent as co-presenter Dan Walker said the 48-year-old “wasn’t feeling particularly well”.

“Sorry to confuse you everybody, just stepped in at the very last moment, so bear with me,” Ms Nugent told the audience.

Mr Walker later took to social media to reassure fans.

Ms Minchin later apologised for her vanishing act.

She said that "tea and toast" had helped with her recovery.

Viewers praised the “improvisation” and “quick thinking” of the show after she was forced to retire.

A BBC spokesperson told the Independent: "Louise had to come off air this morning because she wasn't feeling well. Sally - who was on sport duty - stepped in for the rest of the programme.”

Ms Minchin is expected to be back presenting BBC Breakfast on 6 January.
