BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker responds to speculation after absence

Presenter and Strictly Come Dancing favourite Dan Walker has responded to speculation after not appearing on BBC Breakfast.

Dan took to Twitter to confirm to his followers that he has not left the popular morning show after being absent on Wednesday, January 5, Birmingham Live reports.

Setting the record straight, he said: "Just so you know… I haven’t left #BBCBreakfast, I haven’t ‘taken some time out after Strictly’ and there hasn’t been a ‘major presenter shake-up’,” he tweeted.

“I’m just not in this week.”

Fans quickly responded to the tweet.

One said: "It always amazes me how they make a headline out of nothing. It's not as if there's no real news to cover is there?"

Another added: "Enjoy some well earned time off too Dan see you go very soon p.s footy focus ain't the same without you no matter how good a job they do"

While a third said: "Thank you for 'breaking your silence', when you return you might 'open up' on how you spent absence"

"Dan that’s hilarious I once had 2 week out of GP practice, rumours got out I was off with a breakdown - prob true but it was annual leave," said another.

Twitter users continued: "Breaking news.. Dan Walker is off on holidays (like plenty of other people this week) enjoy your well deserved rest. I'm just glad it's not due to covid and you can enjoy your time off fully"
