BBC Breakfast Carol Kirkwood causes concern as she is hauled to the floor by a dog live on-air

BBC Breakfast took a very awkward yet hilarious turn on Monday morning, although some hosts were left concerned for their co-star as Carol Kirkwood after she lost control of a dog.

The 61-year-old television host had been accompanying some search dogs on the grounds at Wimbledon, ahead of another day of tennis when the unfortunate incident occurred and she took a tumble to the floor thanks to an excitable pooch.

In the clip, the furry companion appeared distracted by something off-camera when the dog hauled Carol across the floor but thankfully she seemed prepared for the chaotic moment as she was already crouched on the ground.

As she spoke to her co-stars, who were live in the studio, suddenly the dog sped off into the distance while Carol was holding its lead. Carol looked shocked but didn't have time to stop herself from falling as she was pulled away, writes The Mirror.

The TV host tumbled from her crouched position onto the floor and went flying forwards as the dog hauled her out of the shot as her co-stars Sally Nugent and Jon Kay were heard shouting out to her asking if she was okay as she vanished from view.

Sally however seemed a bit amused at the incident, as she quipped: "Oh no, Carol... are you okay?" as Jon echoed: "Oh no, oh Carol are you alright?"

Cameras then panned back round to Carol who was seen on the floor laughing hysterically at the situation, which doesn't come as a first time for the weather star.

Someone was heard saying: "It's happened again," as Carol sat with her head in her hands and remained on the floor as the dog continued to walk around and looked at his surroundings, with his tail wagging before he ran off again.

The dog, called Ray, eventually laid down as Carol continued to burst into laughter at the moment insisting that she was fine, jinxing her own fate by commenting on how well-behaved the dog was just before saying he had "barely moved".

Speaking on Monday, Carol told the hosts: "It's Chelsea Flower Show all over again!" referencing the previous incident very similar in 2021 when Carol was sharing a weather update from the Chelsea Flower Show.

She ended up falling in the broadcast when a guide dog named Flash tugged on her leash and took the host with her.

BBC Breakfast airs everyday from 6am on BBC One.
