- The BBC has shelved the second series of the documentary Ashley Cain: Into the Danger Zone and confirmed there are no future projects planned with the reality TV star.
- This decision follows reports of Cain's alleged history of offensive and misogynistic social media posts, made between 2011 and 2015, which have since been deleted.
- The resurfaced tweets reportedly included derogatory terms for women, such as “slag” and “slut”, and alleged threats of sexual violence.
- The BBC said that the posts were “completely unacceptable” and that their vetting process, undertaken by the production company, “clearly failed”, prompting an investigation.
- Cain, a former footballer, was earlier removed from the MTV reality series Ex on the Beach after attempting to assault two of the show’s male contestants.
