BBC Anthony trailer shows life Anthony Walker could have lived

BBC drama Anthony will show the life that murdered teenager Anthony Walker could have lived if he wasn't killed in 2005.

The 90 minute drama will explore the life that Anthony might of had if he wasn't murdered in a racist attack.

Inspired by conversations with Anthony's mum Gee the drama focuses on what the black teenager's life might have looked like.

The story works backwards from his imagined age of 25 to the night of his death in Huyton.

It shows the wonderful person he was and the brilliant things he was set to achieve.

The film imagines a love story he never got to have, the birth of his first child, a career in civil rights and how he helps those around him.

It depicts the tragic impact of racism through the realisation of moments Anthony’s life was robbed of.

The 50 second trailer for the drama sees Anthony, played by Toheeb Jimoh, running from his attackers and then in a hospital bed.

The scene then shoots to his imagined girlfriend Katherine, played by Julia Brown, and the pair getting married in Sefton Park Palm House.

The pair enjoy a vibrant wedding reception surrounded by their family and friends.

The trailer then cuts to his wife Katherine going into labour on a Merseyrail train and giving birth to a baby girl.

Everything is rosy, but it then ends with a sombre looking Gee Walker, played by Rakie Ayola, who holds a basketball in tribute to her son.

*Anthony airs on BBC1 on Monday July 27 at 8:30pm
