Bazball in reverse gear: Father and son bat 208 balls for 4 runs in a club cricket match in England

NEW DELHI: In a strange encounter on Saturday, an opening batsman in club cricket faced 137 balls for 0 not out.

After 45 overs against Mickleover 3rd XI, Ian Bestwick helped Darley Abbey Cricket Club's 4th XI finish on 21-4, 251 runs shy of victory.

In Derbyshire Cricket League Division Nine South, both teams are bottom of the standings.

Thomas Bestwick, Ian's son, also made four runs from 71 balls, all of which came off a single scoring shot. Nicholas Cutting, on the other hand, went undefeated on zero from 34 balls. 9 runs came off extras.

Max Thomson opened the innings for Mickleover and smashed a remarkable 186 from 128 balls, including 17 fours and 14 sixes as his team declared at 271-4 from 35 overs.

Mickleover ended the game with eighteen points, while Darley Abbey only managed three.

Dan Heaton bowled starter Bestwick for just seven runs in ten overs, but the dismissal was ruled a no-ball, according to a social media post made by the home team.
