Baylor wins Big 12 championship thanks to goal-line stand

The Big 12 Championship Game on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Texas came down to a goal-line stand. The Baylor defense stood tall and held off Oklahoma State, 21-16.

Dezmon Jackson tried to outrace Baylor’s Jairon McVea to the pylon but came up inches — an inch? — short and Baylor’s radio team was jubilant:

The Cowboys came up inches short on a 17-play drive that devoured 89 yards and 2:50 as the clocked ticked away in the fourth quarter.

Baylor and Oklahoma State each wind up 11-2. The Bears were ninth in this week’s College Football Playoff rankings. The Cowboys were fifth and had hopes of being one of the four teams to be invited to the semifinals.

Those dreams were doused, coming up inches short.
