Baylor (8-0) vs. TCU (4-4) Game Preview
Why Baylor Will Win
The team keeps on being efficient enough and productive enough at key times to stay unbeaten and get ranked 12th in the first CFP rankings.
Now the Bears have to get through this, and then it’s time to make a few statements against Oklahoma and Texas. But beating TCU will hardly be a layup.
TCU has lost three of its last four, the defense hasn’t played up to preseason expectations, and the lines haven’t been good enough.
The pass protection hasn’t been anything special – and Baylor’s pass rush has been tremendous.
The Horned Frogs aren’t getting into the backfield – and now Baylor gets a break after having issues against everyone from hitting QB Charlie Brewer.
The Bears lead the Big 12 in turnover margin, and TCU is a disaster at times giving the ball away.
All these things matter to a Baylor team that lives off a slim margin for error. It’s not an explosive team, but Charlie Brewer and the passing game are ultra-efficient, the running game is just good enough. and the defense has been brilliant against inconsistent offenses.
TCU has an inconsistent everything.

Why TCU Will Win
TCU might be on a bad run of three losses in four games, but those three defeats were on the road. The team rallied back to rock at home against Texas
The formula is there to out-Baylor, Baylor.
The Bears like to grind things a bit more and just keep the chains moving. TCU actually is good at controlling the clock and the tempo.
Charlie Brewer and the efficient BU passing game has come through time and again. TCU comes up with a whole lot of picks and has the No. 1 defense in the Big 12.
As long as the Horned Frogs can marry the two parts of the puzzle – control the clock, and play great D – it takes Baylor out of its comfort zone. TCU is better on third downs, it doesn’t make a slew of mistakes, and it does almost all of the little things that Baylor has done to be unbeaten.
But really, how is Baylor doing it? How is it able to rock a good Kansas State team and roll over Oklahoma State? Efficient passing, and TCU is allowing teams to convert just 53% of their throws with three of the last five teams completing fewer than 48% of their passes.

What’s Going To Happen
Is this when TCU goes flaky-good again?
It was able to make Texas royally screw up, and Texas hardly ever royally screws up.
It found something in freshman Max Duggan, but he’s coming of a three-pick game and has been way too erratic to be a rock against a team as solid as Baylor.
The Bears aren’t getting enough respect because they’re not winning games with an Oklahoma-like thrill ride. They’ll be their efficient, solid selves as they overcome as massive time of possession deficit with a better quarterback day than TCU will get out of Duggan.
