Bayern, Red Star and Olympiakos - How Spurs' Champions League opponents have started the season

Three months on from heartbreak in Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur are back in the Champions League.

It was a wonderful, emotional and dramatic run to the final last season where Mauricio Pochettino's side came up short at the last hurdle as they were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool.

Can the north London outfit go one better this season? Drawn in Group B alongside

The Lilywhites warmed up for yet another season in European football's elite club competition with a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, their first victory since the opening weekend of the Premier League campaign.

But how have their opponents in the group phase fared so far this season?

Football.london takes a look.

Olympiakos

Tottenham will have to overcome a hostile atmosphere inside the Karaiskakis Stadium on Wednesday as they look to get off to a winning start.

They'll also be facing a side bang in form. Olympiakos are one of the early pace-setters in Super League One with an 100 per cent record after three games and are yet to concede a goal.

Furthermore, the Greek side beat Viktoria Plzen, İstanbul Başakşehir and Krasnodar in qualifying, conceding just once in the process.

Bayern Munich

On paper, Spurs' biggest and most difficult test.

They host the Bundesliga giants in October before travelling to the Allianz Arena for the return meeting on matchday six - where both teams will be hopeful of already being through to the knockout stages.

Unexpectedly Bayern have not exactly hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Beaten by Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup, held at home by Hertha Berlin and drew with RB Leipzig last time out.

Red Star

Crvena zvezda, otherwise known as Red Star Belgrade or simply Red Star.

It has been a brilliant start to the season for Vladan Milojević's side as they have an 100 per cent record after six games in the Serbian SuperLiga and have a couple of games in hand on Vojvodina as well as Bačka Topola.

Beat Copenhagen on penalties and overcame Young Boys on penalties in qualification to reach the group phase.
