Bayern Munich to use Liverpool example in Champions League return leg against Chelsea

Serge Gnabry says Bayern Munich will use Liverpool's comeback against Barcelona last season as added motivation for their Champions League first knockout round second-leg against Chelsea.

Munich hold a commanding 3-0 lead following a second-half double from Gnabry and a strike from Robert Lewandowski at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

The former Arsenal forward, however, believes Barcelona's collapse at Anfield is an example of why the tie is not yet over.

"Three goals should give us a lot of confidence," he told ESPN. "We need to be prepared for the second leg and we can't take it serious enough.

"We saw last season with Liverpool beating Barcelona, we know we have to be careful and focus."

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard was defiant despite the defeat, adding: "In the bigger picture we saw there is a lot of quality in their team.

"There is a lot to them. But we can't look back on anything.

"We are fighting for the top four [in the Premier League] and we have to go to Munich and show a lot of pride. I will keep working."
