Bayern Munich step up Leroy Sane transfer chase as Man City star returns from holiday

Bayern Munich will continue to pursue a summer deal for Manchester City's Leroy Sane, according to club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

The German giants have been vocal in their interest of the the Germany international as they look for long-term replacements for Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi was a target before suffering a serious knee injury, prompting the Bavarians to turn attention for the Premier League champion.

Standard Sport understands City remain hopeful that Sane will sign a new contract at the Eithad Stadium, but Rummenigge says Bayern will not be giving up without a fight.

"The status is that [Sane] comes back from vacation this week and did not want to talk during the vacation time," he told reporters.

"Now you will have to wait in peace and quiet to see if something moves in this direction.

"It is well known that we are still looking for a wide player.

"We lost Ribery and Robben, two players who have shaped the face of Bayern."
