Bayern Munich set record that can never be broken with Champions League win

Bayern Munich stormed to their sixth Champions League triumph - setting a record that can never be broken in the process.

The German giants became the first side to win the Champions League after winning every single game in the campaign.

They stormed to a perfect haul of 18 points from their six group games, including a memorable 7-2 win at Tottenham as they racked up a remarkable +19 goal difference.

When the knockout phase got underway, they beat Chelsea 3-0 at Stamford Bridge before the coronavirus pandemic halted the competition.

Action finally resumed earlier this month, with Hansi Flick’s side dispatching of Chelsea 4-1 in their second leg.

They then hammered Barcelona 8-2 in the quarter-finals and beat Lyon 3-0 in the semi-finals to set up their final clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

And with Kinglsey Coman’s header giving them victory, they completed a perfect 11-game campaign in Europe.

Their performances in Lisbon also saw them win 21 games in a row in all competitions having also stormed to the Bundesliga title.

Asked about the unbreakable record after the game, Serge Gnabry said: "It sounds amazing!”

Discussing their victory on the night, he added: "Winning the trophy today is the best thing that could happen to us. We worked incredibly hard and in the end it came through to be the best team in Europe.

"It's the final, Paris came out wanting to win and so did we. Nobody is going to give up easily but we came through.

"As long as it was 0-0, it was always going to be open for us. Of course, they were going to have chances. It was lucky they didn't score and lucky we did score."
