Bayern Munich's stance on Erling Haaland transfer already revealed to put Chelsea on alert

Chelsea may need to wrap up a deal for Erling Haaland this summer.

It won't be easy as the Borussia Dortmund striker is also said to be on the radar of both Manchester United and Manchester City as well as La Liga duo Barcelona and Real Madrid.

And it would appear that another team is ready to enter the race for one of European football's most sought-after players at the moment.

The good news for Chelsea is that, according to Goal, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Haaland, but only next summer as they look to sign the perfect long-term replacement for the prolific Robert Lewandowski.

However, the bad news for the Blues is that incoming Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn has already revealed the club's intentions with regard to Haaland.

"A package that costs – as we heard – over €100million is unimaginable for FC Bayern at the moment," he said when speaking to Sport Bild earlier in the year.

"Robert [Lewandowski] still has a two-year contract here. His performances cannot be questioned. He’s scored 39 goals [in the Bundesliga] so far!

"Just for that, we don’t have to think about Haaland today. Robert can keep this level for a few more years."

Whilst this stance is obviously good news for Chelsea with regards to their attempts to sign Haaland this summer, they should be on alert as Bayern look poised to come into play in 12 months time.

At the end of next season is when the 20-year-old's release clause of €75m (£64m) will kick in and the current Bundesliga champions just might be able to afford that financial package.

So unless Chelsea can get a deal for Haaland over the line between now and deadline day, they will face even more competition to sign the striker.
