Bayern Munich publicly deny reports of a deal with Man City's Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich have released a statement denying that Manchester City winger Leroy Sane has agreed to join the club.

The Bavarians have been chasing Sane all summer as they look to replace departing legends Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben in attack.

Bayern have made no secret about their desire to sign Sane, with several star players such as Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich all trying to persuade Sane to join and many high-profile members of staff also commenting on the transfer.

It reached its zenith earlier this week when manager Niko Kovac said he was 'confident' the German champions would sign the player, before later apologising for his comments.

Yet rumours have refused to go away and they picked up tenfold on Thursday as several German publications reported that Sane had agreed to join Bayern and that he was set to earn massive wages.

However, Bayern themselves have now taken to Twitter to deny the reports.

The official club account tweeted: "News reports made today stating that Leroy Sané has decided to join FC Bayern do not correspond to the facts."

Meanwhile, City insist nothing has changed with Sane and that they have not received an offer for the player, contrary to reports in German media, and have said they are relaxed about the player who still has two years left on his deal at the Etihad.
