Bayern Munich plot Sane move, Chelsea's £40m swoop, Liverpool medical - Premier League rumours

The January transfer window is a little over two weeks away, and Premier League clubs will be looking to strengthen ahead of the business end of the season.

With Liverpool running away with things at the top of the table, the likes of Leicester and Manchester City will be looking to add to their options in order to put pressure on the Reds, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United will all be eyeing up a spot in the top four.

Here is the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip from across the league.

Bayern eye Sane

Leroy Sane is once again back on Bayern Munich’s radar ahead of the opening of the January transfer window.

The Manchester City winger is closing in on a return to full fitness after picking up a serious knee injury against Liverpool in the Community Shield.

German publication Bild claims Sane is keen to return to Germany, and that Bayern are also hopeful of getting a deal done after missing out in the summer.

Everton lead race for Ibrahimovic

Everton could now be the frontrunners to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is believed to have taken offence at AC Milan’s offer of a £1.7m contract over 18 months.

The signing could be Carlo Ancelotti’s first as manager of the club, with the Italian currently locked in talks with the Blues about their vacant managerial role following the dismissal of Marco Silva earlier this month.

Ibrahimovic is now a free agent having left LA Galaxy last month and has been linked with Milan, Bologna and Napoli - but according to Rai Sport pundit Paolo Paganini, cited in the Mail, Everton now lead the chase for the 38-year-old.

Chelsea set for Ake swoop

Chelsea are ready to trigger the buyback clause in the contract of Nathan Ake as Frank Lampard looks to bolster his defence.

The Blues are able to sign players after their transfer ban was lifted, and it now appears, according to The Express, the club are ready to commit to the idea of paying £40m to ensure the 24-year-old returns to Stamford Bridge in January.

Ake has been one of the standout stars in the Premier League since joining the Cherries and has also been linked with a move to Manchester City, but if the reports are correct, it would appear Lampard’s side have stolen a march on their rivals.

Minamino to undergo Liverpool medical

Takumi Minamino is set to undergo a medical at Liverpool on Wednesday ahead of his January move to Anfield, according to the Liverpool ECHO.

The Red Bull Salzburg star will join the Reds in January after the club agreed  a cut-price £7.25m deal with the Austrian outfit when the transfer window opens.
