Bayern Munich manager Nico Kovac makes major Liverpool admission

Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac has revealed the secret of Liverpool's success - the right type of player.

Both teams have beaten Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, the Reds winning 2-1 at home in the Premier League on Sunday while Bayern registered an incredible 7-2 away triumph in the Champions League earlier this month.

However, while Liverpool are six points clear at the top of the Premier League, Kovac is under pressure after Bayern's indifferent start to the domestic campaign.

And he has highlighted a key reason for the Bundesliga side - who were knocked out of the Champions League last season by Liverpool - being unable to replicate Jurgen Klopp's style of play.

"We must accommodate what we have," said Kovac when asked whether he had watched Liverpool's match on Sunday.

"You need to have the player types. You can't try to go 200 (kmh) on the Autobahn when you can only go 100. You simply must accommodate what we have.

"We have different player types. We must find the right mix and I find that our gegenpressing is also good, and, of course, it can always get better."

Kovac, mindful of his own position, also spoke about the four years Klopp has had to transform Liverpool into European champions and Premier League title contenders.

"What are we talking about, eh?" added Kovac. "About continuity. About time.

"Which apparently you no longer have in football."
