Bayern Munich Makes Final Contract Offer To Alphonso Davies

Bayern Munich sports director Max Eberl has revealed that the club has presented their final offer to Canadian left back Alphonso Davies in a bid to extend his contract, amidst rumored interest from Real Madrid. Eberl stated that they have made a concrete and appreciative offer to Davies, emphasizing the importance of making a decision at some point.

Davies' current contract with Bayern is set to expire at the conclusion of the upcoming season, potentially allowing the 23-year-old player to leave in 2025 without Bayern receiving a transfer fee if he opts not to renew. Reports from Spanish media have suggested that Davies may have already reached an agreement with Real Madrid, although Eberl mentioned that there has been no contact from the LaLiga leaders. Bayern could still command a transfer fee if Davies decides to depart at the end of the current season.

Eberl highlighted the significance of avoiding losing players for free, expressing Bayern's stance on the matter. Sources have indicated that while Real Madrid remains interested in Davies, they are reluctant to pay more than €40 million ($43.5m) for his services this summer and are open to waiting another year to secure a free transfer.

Davies, who has scored 15 goals in 45 appearances for Canada, has featured in 127 Bundesliga matches for Bayern since joining the club in January 2019. Born in Ghana and naturalized as a Canadian citizen, Davies made the move to Bayern after the club agreed to a transfer fee of up to $22 million with the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018, setting a record for a Major League Soccer player at the time.

In other news, Bayern confirmed that captain Manuel Neuer will return to the club after sustaining an abductor strain during training with the German national team, causing him to miss upcoming friendlies against France and the Netherlands. Additionally, right-back Sacha Boey is expected to be sidelined for 'the next few weeks' due to a hamstring tear shortly after recovering from a similar injury.
