Bayern Munich make January transfer decision on Man City winger Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has ruled out a move for Manchester City star Leroy Sane in the January transfer window.

The winger hasn't featured for the Blues since suffering a serious knee injury against Liverpool in the Community Shield back in August.

Sane has been subject of intense transfer interest from the German champions who are looking for long-term replacements after Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery departed.

The Man City winger is believed to be their prime target and various outlets suggested that Bayern could rekindle their interest in the 23-year-old during the January winder, despite his injury woes this season.

However, Salihamadzic has confirmed the club won't be following up their interest with an offer this month.

Asked of a move for Sane, he told BILD : "No, it is not an option in winter."

City boss Pep Guardiola was questioned on Sane's rehabilitation after defender Aymeric Laporte rejoined first-team training.

Both players suffered serious injuries but the winger remains a few weeks behind the Frenchman.

Guardiola said: "I think he is close. I spoke with him two days ago and he said to me he is training alone with the ball, he is doing incredibly well.

"His knee looks really good so I don't think it is going to take too much time to come back to train with us. I think in the next few weeks he can come back."
