Bayern Munich 'make breakthrough' in Leroy Sane transfer bid from Man City

Bayern Munich have reportedly made a 'small breakthrough' in their bid to sign Leroy Sane from Manchester City .

German champions Bayern are keen to land Sane from City this summer after the German was in and out of Pep Guardiola's first-choice XI last term.

Sky in Germany report the Bavarians have made initial contact with Sane and his representatives to open negotiations over the potential switch.

But the Premier League champions would hold out for a figure of at least £100million for the winger.

The Blues are reportedly still in negotiations with Sane themselves over a new deal after the flier rejected an initial offer.

It is also unclear whether Sane wants to return to Germany having left Schalke for the Etihad in 2016.

City sources poured cold water on reports talks between the two clubs had commenced, telling Mirror Football: "We are not in negotiations with Bayern over Sane.

“We are talking to him about a new contract and not looking to sell.

“We have also had no offer of [David] Alaba. That is totally spurious and we are well stocked at left-back.”

Pep Guardiola has previously made it clear he wants to keep Sane and is a big part of his plans ahead of the new campaign.

He stated last week: "For a long time they are talking about their interest in Leroy Sane. He is our player and we hope that he can stay here this season and next season and next season."

Sane played 47 times for City in all competitions last term, scoring 16 goals.
