Bayern Munich join transfer race for Liverpool 'target' Brendan Rodgers says is the best he's worked with

Bayern Munich have reportedly joined the transfer race for rumoured Liverpool target Youri Tielemans.

The Leicester City midfielder has entered the final two years of his current deal and is already being linked with a number of top European clubs.

The Bundesliga giants are the latest to show interest in the 24-year-old, according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.

Leicester will be hopeful the Belgian international extends his stay at the King Power stadium as manager Brendan Rodgers described him as 'one of the best' he's ever worked with.

"I think he’s progressing well, he’s doing very well," he told reporters ahead of the Foxes' clash against Arsenal this weekend. "He came in January 2019 and he has progressed into one of Europe’s top midfielders.

"He’s only going to get better. An incredible professional. His mindset is to work at the highest level. He’s progressing and that’s what you want to see in your players.

"It will come with even more experience, even more games. He’s one of the best professionals I’ve ever worked with.

"His job is to create goals and score goals but he’s proven himself to battle physically in the league. He’s really worked on that aspect of his game.

"If you look across the board in terms of ideal footballers, being mentally tough, being intelligent, having bravery, having quality, he ticks every one of those boxes.

"At 24 years of age, he’s a brilliant player. He is so efficient in games."

Tielemans emerged as a reported Liverpool target following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.

He seems in no rush to make a decision over his future and is 'open to everything', as the midfielder told Sky Sports earlier this season.

"There's no update really. I'm open to everything," he said. "The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open.

"As long as I'm here I will give everything for the club. I've already done so, but I will do so even more. The contract situation is just something that is going on in football, it's a normal situation.

"There are talks going on - I'm not saying I'm going to sign, I'm not saying I'm not going to sign. We will see."
