Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer makes transfer decision amid Chelsea interest

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer reportedly has no interest in joining Chelsea amid speculation linking him with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Neuer has been one of the most impressive shot-stoppers in the world in recent years, and has had a hugely successful time at Bayern since joining from Schalke in 2011, winning 18 trophies including seven Bundesliga titles and a Champions League.

The 34-year-old has been involved in contract talks with his club for a number of months, and Chelsea were said to be looking to take advantage over the current uncertainty over his future by making an offer for the player.

But according to Sky Sports Neuer does not have any desire to move to the Premier League, and still sees a future with Bayern.

He is expected to sign a new contract over the coming weeks, and it is thought he will finish his career with the German giants.

The goalkeeping position is one of the areas Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is most keen to strengthen before next season, and he has apparently lost faith with current No.1 Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Spaniard made a number of high-profile mistakes before the Premier League season was suspended, including failing to stop Isaac Hayden's weak header as Newcastle beat Chelsea 1-0 in January.

Recently Willy Caballero has taken his place in the side for a number of games, but it is clear that Lampard does not see either keeper as a long-term answer, and will do all he can to find a new No.1 over the summer.

Speaking on Kepa earlier this year, Lampard said: "I don't expect smiley faces when people get dropped, I just expect reactions.

"With the competition in squads now … you have to always be aware that if your standards drop or if the manager chooses for whatever reason, [to leave you out] you need to handle it in the right way."
