Bayern Munich dismiss reports over transfer agreement with Man City forward Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich have rejected claims that Leroy Sane has agreed to join the club from Manchester City.

Reports earlier on Thursday suggested that the German international had made the decision to sign for the reigning Bundesliga champions for a fee in excess of €100m (£91.2m) and was set to sign either a four or five-year contract.

However, Bayern rubbished those rumours in a short statement released via their social media channels.

"News reports made today stating that Leroy Sane has decided to join FC Bayern do not correspond to the facts," the club said.

Bayern have been in pursuit of Sane throughout the summer and head coach Niko Kovac apologised this week after chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge took exception to the Croatian's assertion that he was 'very confident' an agreement could be stuck before the transfer deadline.

Last week, Pep Guardiola reiterated that he wanted the 23-year-old to remain at the club, but admitted that the decision was out of City's hands.
