Bayern Munich director makes Kingsley Coman to Manchester United transfer admission

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic says they would never have allowed Kinglsey Coman to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

United were keen to sign a proven right winger in the summer and identified Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho as their priority target.

Despite being huge admirers of the England international United did not sign Sancho over concerns about the overall cost of such a deal in the coronavirus financial climate even though the club were still prepared to invest a British record fee.

United also looked at short-term alternatives to Sancho with Douglas Costa, Ousmane Dembele and Coman all linked with possible loan moves.

MEN Sport reported back in August that United could consider Coman on loan but reiterated Bayern's brief to German confidants they had no interest in selling the winger.

United eventually made deadline day moves for Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo to address their right wing issue and Salihamidzic insists there was ‘nothing’ to suggest a loan for Coman in the summer transfer window.

“There was nothing, and we wouldn’t have looked into it either. His goal in the Champions League final should explain enough why we are relying on him wholeheartedly,” the Allianz Arena chief told  Sport Bild .
