Bayern Munich could offer Tanguy Ndombele transfer lifeline amid Tottenham woes

Bayern Munich are reportedly closely monitoring Tanguy Ndombele's situation at Tottenham as they consider making a bid for the player this summer.

Ndombele became Spurs' most expensive signing ever when he joined the club in a £55m deal from Lyon last summer, and big things were expected of the 23-year-old in north London.

So far the move has been something of a disaster, though, with question-marks over the midfielder's fitness and rumours of a falling out with manager Jose Mourinho.

According to French outlet Le10Sport Bayern will consider either Ndombele or Chelsea outcast Tiemoue Bakayoko if, as expected, their defensive midfielder Thiago Alcantara leaves to join Liverpool.

It is not clear whether Spurs would consider letting Ndombele go, especially given how much they spent on signing him in the first place, but he continues to be a peripheral figure under Mourinho.

He has yet to start a game since football returned, and failed to even make it off the bench in the 2-1 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Mourinho recently insisted Ndombele still had a future at the club, however, and pointed to the slow start former Spurs player Luka Modric had at Real Madrid before he eventually came good.

"Football is full of players who have made difficult starts and then ended well," Mourinho said.

"When Luka Modric arrived at Real Madrid, after six months he was labelled the worst signing in their history. A few months later he was a champion, then a few months later he was European champion and then a few months later he was voted the best player in the world.

"When the talent is there many things can happen with adaptation and if the talent is there anything good can happen."

It remains to be seen if Ndombele is involved in any of Spurs' last three games of the season as they take on Newcastle, Leicester and Crystal Palace in the coming weeks.
