Bayern Munich chief addresses transfer speculation surrounding former Man City star Leroy Sane

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reiterated that there is no chance of the club selling Leroy Sane.

The German international has only started seven Bundesliga matches this season after his summer transfer from Manchester City.

Sane has appeared more often from the bench and there has been some suggestion he could be ditched after just one season at the club.

The 25-year-old has struggled to make an impact and was even subbed on and then off again in a match against Bayer Leverkusen in December.

Despite his struggles in Germany, Rummenigge has quashed any talks of Sane leaving the club and insists the former City winger will be a huge success at the Allianz Arena.

“He has a five-year contract," he said. "That would be nonsense. We need this type of player.

“Of course he will stay with Bayern. And I am convinced: He will be a success here.”

On leaving Manchester City in the summer, Sane said: “It wasn’t easy. Pep Guardiola and this fantastic team were the reason why I moved to Manchester. But I wanted to do something new.

“The concept and the plans of FC Bayern were the best match for my ideas. That’s why I came to my decision. The Bayern system really fits me perfectly. Wingers characterise Bayern’s game; that of course suits me very well. That was very much a key point for me.

“Of course I want to play, but I don’t demand to start every match. No player in the world can play every match and reach his highest level. I have my goals, but I’m zero-point-zero per cent against rotation.

“It helps the team get some good freshness, give new impulses.”
