Bayern Munich chairman refuses to rule out fresh transfer move for Man City star Leroy Sane

High up officials of Bayern Munich have started discussing the potential signing of Man City's Leroy Sane again, with CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge refusing to rule out that they have interest in the player.

The future of Sane was City's transfer saga of the summer, with Bayern making no secret of their desire to bring him back home to Germany to replace departed legends Arjen Robben and Frank Ribery.

Several star players such as Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer and Serge Gnabry have all commented on the possibility of Sane's arrival as did other high-profile employees at the club, like Uli Hoeness and then-manager Nico Kovac.

Their pursuit was so public that Kovac was forced to apologise after saying he was 'confident' that Sane would arrive at the club and Bayern had to deny reports in the German press that the signing was immanent on their own Twitter account.

Pep Guardiola and other senior Blues officials were irked by the Bavarians' charm offensive for Sane and remained relaxed about the situation after not receiving any bids.

Bayern ended their summer chase for Sane after the 24-year-old suffered serious ligament damage in the Community Shield and instead signed Phillipe Coutinho and Ivan Perisic.

Sane is yet to kick a ball this season as he continues his recovery but Bayern's interest has seemingly not gone away.

Rummenigge has claimed Bayern want to create a 'friendly atmosphere' with City, but still spoke about Sane.

"If we are still interested in principle, which I do not rule out, we will first talk to the club in order to create a friendly atmosphere of conversation,” Rummenigge told German journalist Manuel Bonke.

Sane's contract at City expires at the end of next season.
