Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick all but confirms Timo Werner to Chelsea transfer

Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick has congratulated Chelsea on their expected deal to sign RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

football.london understands the Blues are set to complete a deal for Werner in the coming days, with Frank Lampard's side ready to activate the Germany striker's €55million release clause before it expires on June 15.

Chelsea were keen to strengthen their attack this summer after failing to complete a deal for a striker in January.

Werner, who will reportedly sign a five-year deal worth €10million a year, has established himself as one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe after a stunning season which has seen him net 31 goals in all competitions.

Liverpool were also interested in signing the forward, but Chelsea have moved quickly to seal a deal.

Flick, whose Bayern side lead Chelsea 3-0 in their last-16 Champions League tie, was quick to praise Werner when asked about the striker on Friday.

Timo is a very good player, also a player who scores," Flick said at his press conference ahead of Bayern's clash against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday.

"I think Chelsea have made a good transfer, if that is so."

Werner's imminent arrival at Stamford Bridge will see him join Hakim Ziyech, who is set to complete his move from Ajax in the next transfer window.
