Bayer Leverkusen 'expect' Kai Havertz transfer offer from Liverpool this summer

Bayer Leverkusen are bracing themselves for a bid from Liverpool for Kai Havertz this summer.

Havertz, 20, has emerged as one of the brightest talents in Europe after scoring 20 goals last season.

Leverkusen are likely to demand around £110m for the German international, who has attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

But there are three clubs believed to be real contenders to sign Havertz this summer, reports Bild.

It is claimed Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on the situation, as well as Liverpool and an unnamed Spanish side.

And Leverkusen expect Jurgen Klopp's Premier League leaders to firm up their interest with a formal bid.

A deal for Havertz is likely to break Liverpool's transfer record, which currently stands at £75m for the signing of Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

Jurgen Klopp will consider Havertz a potential Adam Lallana replacement, with the England ace out of contract at the end of the season.

Speaking last year, Havertz said: "I am honest, at some point the next step must come for me.

“But I’m not going to worry about when exactly that will happen.

“What counts now is Bayer Leverkusen. We still have a lot to do. Leverkusen very quickly signaled that they wanted to keep me."

Liverpool return to Premier League action against Southampton this weekend as they bid to continue their unbeaten campaign.
