Bayer Leverkusen send Manchester United transfer message over Kai Havertz

Bayer Leverkusen chief Rudi Voller insists the German club have not given up hope of keeping star playmaker Kai Havertz.

Manchester United are among a number of clubs who have been heavily linked with Havertz.

MEN Sport understands the player is open to the idea of moving to Old Trafford, while Liverpool and more recently Chelsea have been touted for a possible move.

However, Voller remains hopeful Havertz might yet stay at Leverkusen beyond the end of this season.

"We haven’t given up hope that he’ll stay with us," Voller told German outlet ARD. "We try to give him every possibility that he can call up his qualities.

"He did an outstanding job in the second half of the season."

United's top playmaking target remains Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, while the Old Trafford club have also considered the Leicester City star James Maddison.

It remains to be seen if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side can land their preferred targets in this position, as well as keep hold of Paul Pogba. Right-wing is another priority for United in the transfer market, as they pursue another 20-year-old Bundesliga sensation in Borussia Dortmund wide man Jadon Sancho.
