Bayer Leverkusen send Man City cheeky message Liverpool fans will love

Bayer Leverkusen have sent a cheeky message of good luck to Manchester City as they make their return to Premier League action this evening.

Pep Guardiola's side get English football's top flight back underway as they take on Arsenal at the Etihad at 8.15pm.

Liverpool, who will restart their season at Goodison Park on Sunday, are 25 points clear of the reigning champions. And this is something Leverkusen are well aware of.

The Bundesliga outfit took to Twitter to comically congratulate rivals Bayern Munich on an eighth consecutive league title.

Football fans' eyes have been gripped on events in Germany's top flight with it being the first league to return to action in Europe.

One fan replied to the post noting that Leverkusen's humorous tweets during this time will not be forgotten.

Teamed with a picture of Guardiola, the Twitter user replied: "The streets wont forget this admin when the prem is back".

To which Leverkusen wittily responded: "Best of luck to all sides as they try to close the 25-point gap."

At the time of publication the tweet had received 2,700 retweets as well as just under 18,000 likes.

If Man City fall to defeat against Arsenal on Wednesday night the Reds will then have a chance to claim their first league title in 30 years at the home of local rivals Everton on Sunday.
