Chelsea are closing in on one of their top transfer targets this summer.
Frank Lampard has already added to his squad ahead of the new season with Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner joining the club earlier this year.
Following these two captures, Chelsea have been working hard to bring Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz to the club in order to add to their attacking potency.
The Blues have been locked in negotiations with the German club, but according to Sport Bild an agreement of £72 million up front with a further £18 million in add ons has been agreed between the clubs.
Havertz is keen on a move to Stamford Bridge, with the player already said to have agreed personal terms with the club.
Bayer Leverkusen have now responded on social media, with the English account posting a simple tweet.
The post includes a 25-second video of highlights on Havertz’s season, alongside emojis of a crown and a diamond.
Havertz caught the eye of clubs around Europe with his performances for the German side during 2019/20.
The 21-year-old scored 12 goals and assisted a further eight in 30 Bundesliga appearances, including seven goals after the restart of the season following the Coronavirus lockdown.
Despite reports of the deal being close to completion, Leverkusen Sporting Director Rudi Voller has poured cold water on the reports.
"That's nonsense!" Was his reply (via SID ).
