Bayer Leverkusen in hilarious Scots guide for fans ahead of Rangers clash

For any overseas football team playing in Glasgow , in can be difficult - sometimes impossible - for their fans to understand what locals are talking about half of the time.

Thursday will be no different, with thousands of German supporters set to descend on Ibrox to watch Bayer Leverkusen take on Rangers in the Europa League.

And to help them navigate the west coast's unique lingo, the Bundesliga side have issued advise on how to get properly stuck into the Scottish spirit.

Taking to Twitter, the club defined 'Taps Aff’, ‘Patter’, ‘Pish' and 'Gaun Yersel' - staples of the Scottish vocabulary.

They captioned the post: "Working on our vocab. Have we got this right?"

It went down a storm with social media users, who were quick to hail Leverkusen's 'top tier patter'.

Bayer Leverkusen take on the Light Blues in the first leg of their last 16 European clash on Thursday night, with Steven Gerrard's men looking to carry on their blistering form in the competition.

However, a string of poor domestic results mean the Gers are up against it as they look to capitalise on their home advantage and advance to the quarter finals.

It comes after Leverkusen manager Peter Bosz  called for the Europa League to be postponed amid the coronavirus outbreak.

It was revealed this week that the return leg in Germany would be played behind closed doors, despite a capacity Ibrox crowd expected on Thursday.

The game is set to kick off at 8pm.
