Bayer Leverkusen face fresh Rangers worry as Kai Havertz power move set to overshadow Europa League preparations

Bayer Leverkusen are facing fresh concerns surrounding star man Kai Havertz ahead of their Europa League showdown with Rangers next month.

Reports in Germany state the mercurial 21-year-old playmaker is pushing for showdown talks when he returns to training on Thursday as he looks to seal a money-spinning move to Chelsea.

Frank Lampard is desperate to land the man who has been compared favourably to former Stamford Bridge star Michael Ballack,

Havertz won't come cheap, however, with Leverkusen reportedly waiting for an offer of upwards of £90m for a player who has netted 37 goals over the past two seasons.

The Bundesliga side want their star turn to remain for their crack at Euro glory but Bild state the Germany international has his heart set on a switch to West London.

Doubts over Havertz's future is good news for Rangers and manager Steven Gerrard as they look to overturn a 3-1 first leg defecit.

The task is tall but the Ibrox side will head to Germany on August 6 after their first Premiership game away to Aberdeen while Leverkusen will be building fitness with the their league return not until September.

If Rangers win they remain in Germany and take on either Inter Milan or Getafe in the Europa League quarter finals.
