Late Bay City Roller Les McKeown hit number one on the Amazon charts with his farewell song Goodbye - as his widow admitted he'd now be 'at peace'.

The death of the Scots singer who passed away suddenly on April 20 from a suspected heart attack caused fans around the world to mourn his death.

And as the tartan clad army of Rollers fans paid their respects, many rushed to snap up his last solo album The Lost Songs - which featured his song Goodbye.

Over the weekend, the much adored Shang-A-Lang singer made it to Amazon's top slot in countries around the world after a social media campaign went live on lesmckeown.com a minute after midnight on Friday.

Within hours, the chosen track, Goodbye, was topping not only the Amazon UK chart, achieving the campaign’s goal, but also Amazon Japan and the Pop category on Amazon USA.

The hashtag #GoodbyeLesMcKeown was trending on Twitter and will continue until midnight Thursday, backed by his family.

Les's widow Peko said: "Leslie always wanted one more number one. I feel he is at peace now".

Goodbye is the final track on Les McKeown’s last solo album, Lost Songs, and is available from Amazon, iTunes, Apple Music and popular streaming apps.

John McLaughlin, writer and producer who Les teamed up with for the track, told fans online: "Wow! ‘Goodbye’ by Les McKeown is sitting at No.1 on the Amazon Music UK chart!

The wonderful BCR fans giving Les a send off he would be so proud of ..bless you all.

Still shocked and heartbroken that’s he’s gone but Les and the #BayCityRollers music will live on forever."
