Battling illnesses, Clint Capela bounces back in Game 5

Clint Capela has been sick for most of the first round of the NBA playoffs and had one of the worst games of his career Monday night.

But the Houston Rockets big man certainly appeared to be feeling better in Wednesday night’s game, posting a bounce-back box score.

In the 100-93 win that gave Houston the series win and sent them to the Western Conference semifinals for the third straight season, Capela played 36 minutes and had 16 points and 10 rebounds. In addition to the double-double, Capela chipped in three blocks and two assists and was +17 in his time on the floor.

“I’ve been having two types of respiratory illness,” Capela said before Game 5, according to the Houston Chronicle. “It’s been a tough week for me, especially recovery wise, even during the games. Up and down the court was kind of hard for me. But I’ve started feeling better. I saw the doctor, and he said it’s going the right way now. It’s good news for me. “I’m good tonight. I feel better. I haven’t been limited. Since I feel better, I won’t be limited.”

We knew Capela was feeling like his old self when he dunked right past Rudy Gobert in the third quarter.
Capela also had a pretty dunk on a pretty alley-oop from James Harden.
Hopefully, Capela can get some good rest before round two, and continue to show us why when he plays well, the Rockets are essentially a shoo-in to win.
