Battersea flat fire: Man rescued from blaze at 15-storey tower block in south-west London

Firefighters have rescued a man from a blaze at a block of flats in south-west London.

Dramatic footage showed worried onlookers watching on as crews rushed into the 15-storey building in Battersea on Thursday.

About 60 firefighters and eight fire engines were called tackle the flames in a flat in the block at around 6.20pm.

The man who was rescued was treated by paramedics at the scene in Ingrave Street, London Fire Brigade said.

A Met Police spokesman said he is aged in his forties.

Part of a flat on the 14th floor was damaged in the blaze, which was brought under control by 7.28pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
