Battered and deep-fried pickled onions being served up by Glasgow chippy

If you love nothing more than a wee pickled onion on the side of your fish supper then a Cambuslang chippy may have just the thing.

Codfather Fish and Chips, on Hamilton Road, is serving up the ultimate chippy side - and if their recent Facebook post is anything to go by then there may be a (socially distanced) queue to give it a go.

Yes, pickled onions are getting the batter treatment, combining vinegar goodness with that deep-fried crunch for the ultimate snack.

They’re 50p each or five for £2 and available for delivery too, within the chip shop’s local area.

Comments under the social media post, which has attracted 4.7k comments in just 16 hours, are overwhelmingly positive, with many followers desperate to try the unusual delicacy - one calls it a “game changer”.

Others say battered pickled onions have nothing on a deep-fried pickled egg…although personally, we think that’s a step too far.

So, what do you think, Glasgow - would you chomp down on a battered onion? We can’t wait to hear your thoughts over on Facebook and Twitter.
