Batons, sticks brandished as dozens brawl in Melbourne's CBD

Police are investigating a brawl involving up to 30 people, some armed with batons and sticks, in Melbourne's CBD which left a 16-year-old boy in hospital.

The fight broke out between two groups of people about 7:30pm on Bourke Street, Victoria Police said.

Police said some of those involved had weapons, including batons and sticks.

Officers used capsicum spray to break up the fight, and most of those involved fled the scene.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they were investigating the circumstances around the brawl, but no arrests had been made.
