Baton, knuckledusters and stashes of drugs discovered as police intercept car

A baton, brass knuckles and stashes of drugs were found by after officers intercepted a car in Leigh

Police officers spotted a vehicle 'acting suspiciously' before pulling it over.

According to Greater Manchester Police, a bat was discovered inside, as well as a 'strong smell of cannabis'.

Following further searches, a quantity of cannabis was uncovered as well as items appearing to resemble a scale and snap bags.

A man has been arrested for possession of an offensive weapon, possession with intent to supply cannabis, driving without a licence and insurance.

Investigations are ongoing, according to the force.

Officers from GMP Leigh, Atherton and Hindley said: "Whilst on patrol, officers have sighted a vehicle acting suspiciously on Maple Crescent, Leigh.

"On stopping the vehicle officers have spotted the bat and noticed a strong smell of cannabis coming from within the car.

"The two occupants and the car were searched and the items pictured were recovered.

Police also discovered what appears to be scales and snap bags (Greater Manchester Police)

"One male was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon, possession with intent to supply cannabis, no licence and no insurance.

"He is currently under investigation as enquiries are ongoing."
