Batmobile set for Glasgow Batgirl movie as producers tease 'masterpiece' hero vehicle chase scene

Glasgow could be set to clap eyes on the Batmobile tearing through the city streets during filming for the new Batgirl movie.

With Michael Keaton's return as the Caped Crusader all but confirmed for the forthcoming HBO movie - that started production back in November - there's every chance we'll see him get behind the wheel of the iconic armoured vehicle.

Custom-build movie motor company Picture Vehicles Limited - who worked on The Flash and The Batman - have confirmed they will supply vehicles for Batgirl, and have teased the prospect that filming will involve a big chase scene on the city streets.

Taking to Instagram today (January 4), they posted a picture of a lorry being loaded with the caption: "Today we're loading up our mobile workshop. We started the new year with a bang, literally. Glasgow, we're coming for you. Let's wreck some cars."

Asked if we will see some motorcycle action in the superhero movie in a comment on the post, they replied: "A little bit."

A previous post by the company from December 3 also shows one of their crew "making up some dressing parts for a hero vehicle", which gives further indication that the Batmobile - or indeed a Batcycle for Batgirl - will feature in the film.

On December 1, Picture Vehicles Limited also shared an Instagram post from Batgirl directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi of a clapperboard confirming that filming had commenced, along with a caption: "This looks a really exciting production in the making."

One person commented underneath the post asking if we "can expect a classic Batmobile" to which Picture Vehicles Limited replied: "We can expect a masterpiece."

That being the case, it does indeed seem like we might see a return of the iconic Batmobile driven by Michael Keaton in the 1989 Batman movie.

Failing that, as was the case with The Flash with Batman's Batcycle, we might see Batgirl take to the Glasgow streets in an entirely new, and super cool, Batcycle or Batmobile.

And with street scenes set to be filmed in the coming weeks in the Trongate, Saltmarket and on St Vincent Street, we hopefully won't need to wait too long!
