'Batman v. Superman' trailer kicks off with Chicago skyline

April 17--And people thought "The Dark Knight" trilogy was dark.

The gloomy trailer for the highly anticipated "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" -- which filmed in part in Chicago and the suburbs -- leaked online Thursday and is low on lighting, and action, for that matter. The shaky video presumably was taken with a phone and features subtitles in another language.

The trailer starts off with a shot of the Chicago skyline (the easily identifiable Crain Communications Building gives it away) and a series of voice-overs appearing to debate if Superman can be trusted. The debate sounds like something out of Fox News or CNN, with one person asking "Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?" and another stating "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts, absolutely."

We don't get our first good glimpse of the Batsuit until 1:25 into the video. The trailer becomes more bat-centric at that point, with quick glimpses of what appears to be the Batplane, Batmobile and an armored version of the Batsuit. There's also a shot of Batman heroically standing on top of a skyscraper overlooking the city, which is reminiscent of the shot in "The Dark Knight" with the Chicago skyline in the background, only not as cool or breath-taking.

The two iconic superheroes clash at the end of the trailer, because, after all, it's called "Batman v. Superman." Batman -- whose voice makes him sound like Jigsaw from the "Saw" films -- sizes up a floating Superman during a night time showdown as rain pours on both men.

"Tell me, do you bleed?" asks a trash-talking Batman. "You will."

Other than that? Not a ton to get excited about in the trailer, if you ask me. But I also strongly prefer the more realistic version of the Batman character that we saw in Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" films, so I'm biased.

The Zack Snyder-directed "Batman v. Superman" filmed in Chicago, including in the Loop and the Uptown neighborhood, and in the Yorkville area, but for the most part shot in Michigan. The trailer was scheduled to be released Monday at IMAX theaters (Oops). The movie -- which stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman -- is expected to hit theaters March 25, 2016.
