Batman, Spider-Man and Iron Man heading for Rutherglen as comic-con returns

Batman, Spider-Man and other assorted superheroes and villains will be visible in Rutherglen this Saturday as the popular Comic Con returns for a fourth year.

And organisers are promising a host of guests and fun activities will descend upon the town.

And it won’t just be comic writers and artists that will be appearing, as three top wrestlers have also signed up to appear.

Rutherglen’s own Jack Jester, who has appeared on BBC shows such as Insane Fight Club and recent comedy the Scotts, will be leading the charge.

The Big Kink, as he’s nicknamed, is a former ICW champion and regularly competes all over the UK.

He’ll be joined in Rutherglen by the current Insane Championship Wrestling champion Stevie Boy Xavier and fellow ICW star BT Gunn.

The three grapplers have been added to a line-up that already features plenty of Scottish comics talent.

Burnside writer John Lees, Rutherglen artist Gary Erskine, who has illustrated the likes of the X-Men, Scottish writer/artist Monty Nero, and Doctor Who artist Neil Slorance are all signed up to appear.

There will be 60 traders selling comics, toys, artwork and more on the day, and the always popular cosplay competitions will take place, hosted by Portuguese cosplayer Kathy Alves.

Other fun planned for the day includes Jurassic Class, a 45-minute class where locals will be taken back in time to learn about the creatures that ruled the Earth millions for years ago while viewing an amazing selection of fossils.

The Con will debut a make your own slime class, where kids can make their own gross slime and customise it before taking going home.

And there will various costumed characters out and about, too.

The event will run from 10am until 4pm, with tickets costing £2.

Entry is free for under 10s and tickets can be purchased at www.bgcp.co.uk or from the town hall on the day.
