Bathgate is still set to bloom this summer despite the coronavirus crisis.
Enterprising Bathgate, with the invaluable help of a team of willing volunteers, are putting the finishing touches to the Hopetoun Street flower beds in the town.
Pat Kerr, from Enterprising Bathgate said: “Enterprising Bathgate would like to thank all the volunteers who helped with the weeding and planting of the flower beds and the surrounding areas.
“The flower beds are the last public space flower beds in the town and although they take more maintenance than shrubbed areas we all think the extra work is worth it.
“Enterprising Bathgate has paid for the plants and regular grass cutting surrounding the beds for a number of years now and along with the hanging baskets in the town, also paid for by Enterprising Bathgate, we think makes a colourful addition to the town.”
Pat continued: “Every year Enterprising Bathgate funds 114 hanging baskets throughout the town centre with the watering and maintenance usually paid for by contributions from individual businesses and sponsors.
“This year Enterprising Bathgate has stepped in to also cover these costs to help alleviate the financial pressure on businesses during the current crisis.
“This has been made possible through the BID Resilience Fund set up by the Scottish Government.
“We are also extremely proud and privileged to have the support and knowledge of our volunteers, their enthusiasm is infectious. So, a big thank you to Jim and Janice Saunders, Derek Watson, Margaret Brady, Margaret Kelly and Alan Agnew.”
