Bathgate station: Scotrail announce person has been hit by a train

Emergency services have raced to the scene after a person was sadly hit by a train this morning.

Scotrail announced that the person had been struck between Bathgate and Blackridge train stations at around 6 am.

They said: "NEW: Sadly, a person has been struck by a train between #Bathgate and Blackridge. The emergency services are on their way to the scene. Check back for further updates once we know more."

Services between Helensburgh and Edinburgh will now terminate at Airdrie with travellers being recommended to seek an alternative route.

It has also been announced that services between Edinburgh and Helensburgh will terminate at Bathgate.

Scotrail is recommending the following alternative routes:

Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh via Falkirk High

Glasgow Central to Edinburgh via Shotts

Glasgow Queen Street to Falkirk Grahamston

Scotrail has also confirmed that a second person has been struck by a train between Aberdeen and Stonehaven this morning.

They said: "NEW: Unfortunately, we’ve had reports of a person being struck by a train between #Aberdeen and Stonehaven and the lines are closed. We’re working closely with emergency services during this time and will keep you updated."
